जनपद कुशीनगर में पर्यटन विकास की अपार संभावनाओं को देखते हुए जिलाधिकारी एस0 राजलिंगम द्वारा पर्यटन विकास की संभावनाएं तलाशी गयी। इस क्रम में रामकोला स्थित खोटही ग्राम पंचायत में वेटलैंड (आद्र क्षेत्र) मणिताल का आज जिलाधिकारी व मुख्य विकास अधिकारी गुंजन द्विवेदी द्वारा निरीक्षण किया गया। इको टूरिज्म को बढ़ावा दिए जाने की दृष्टि से जिलाधिकारी ने आज मणि ताल व आस पास के क्षेत्रों का निरीक्षण किया। इस क्रम में उन्होंने उपस्थित

ग्रामवासियों से भी बातचीत की। प्रवासी पक्षियों की आवाजाही के बारे में पूछा। ग्रामीणों द्वारा बताया गया कि यहां प्रवासी पक्षियों का आगमन होता है। इस क्रम में गैरी, दिग्विच व लाल सर पक्षियों की आवाजाही के बारे में भी बताया गया। जिलाधिकारी मणिताल के किनारे किनारे के रास्तों का भी निरीक्षण किया। ब्रिटिश काल में स्थापित नील फैक्ट्री की चिमनी को भी उन्होंने देखा।


डी एम ने इस क्षेत्र को पर्यटन विकास हेतु प्रोजेक्ट के रूप में लेने के निर्देश दिए। आसपास के क्षेत्र की सफाई हेतु सहायक डीपीआरओ को निर्देशित किया गया। मणिताल के आसपास चिल्ड्रन पार्क बनाए जाने हेतु डीसी मनरेगा राकेश कुमार को निर्देशित किया तथा उन्होंने मणि ताल के किनारे किनारे सड़कों के विकास हेतु भी निर्देश दिए। जिलाधिकारी द्वारा कहा गया कि पर्यटन की संभावनाओं को देखते हुए जनपद कुशीनगर में पर्यटन विकास की दृष्टि से इको टूरिज्म के तहत इस क्षेत्र का विकास किया जाएगा।
